Paper Towels and Peanut Butter

I read this idea in USA Weekend Magazine.

Healthy Tip:

After opening up a jar of peanut butter place one or two wadded up paper towels at the top of the jar. Put the lid back on and place the jar upside down overnight. The next morning the towel should soak up the excess oil from the peanut butter.

I don't know if this makes it that much healthier or not, but let me know if you try it!

That annoying feeling I have is Back...

When I started this little side blog, I felt like I had too. I am weird. If I see or read about something that will help someone or will make their life easier, I feel like if I don't share it or write it down, I will have failed the universe. I don't get this away about anything else, i.e. recipes, books, sales, etc...

I don't even plan on doing, using, or buying half the things I learn about either. I do however get a very annoying feeling that if I don't write the idea down or tell someone about it, I will be uneasy for quite sometime. So enough about trying to explain this strange phenomenon.

The other day I was reading the paper and found some things that I thought were worth sharing. Like I've said before, half the time I may not even try it or buy it. I'm just documenting and telling you about it!

Hiatus

I have decided to take a break from this section of my blog. I know I haven't posted more than a few posts and you may be wondering how hard can it be?? It's not that it is hard or really that time consuming, it's that it is always in the back of my head that I need to post something and keep this blog updated. I know that no one really reads this either(I'm not delusional).
I have mentally stretched myself too thin and I'm making things easier for me!
Bottom line: this is no longer on my mental "To Do" List.
Maybe I'll be back after I'm done with school...I do have lots of things I could post : )

Newspaper

Once again, I have yet to try this one. I have heard of people using a page of a newspaper to clean mirrors and glass. You don't spray anything on it, you just slightly crumple it and wipe. The glass should be streak free.
I gotta try it sometime!

Allergic Stuffed Animals

Our kids both have allergies. Damon and I both have allergies. One small step to help stop allergies in your house is to put the kids' stuffed animals in a freezer bag and store it in the freezer for 3-5 hrs. once a week. This will get rid of any dust mites.

Sounds like a helpful idea. Now maybe if the rest of our house was dust free it would actually make a difference! I also doubt we are going to have room in our freezer to fit stuffed animals but maybe that will force us to cook some things that have been in there for half a year!

Extraordinary Uses for Ordinary Things

So I have cheated and gotten an amazing book at our school's book fair. It is the Reader's Digest, Extraordinary Uses for Ordinary Things book. I think I could post ideas for the next two years using this book so here it goes!

Antiperspirant

While reading a magazine in our school libray I came across a way to stop shaving nicks from bleeding. It says to rub an antiperspirant on the cut and it will stop the bleeding. Let me know if you've tried it and it works! I think it would sting?
